Charleston is a true four-season destination, offering something for everyone all the year long. The mild winters and warm summers are flanked by the near-perfect weather of fall and spring. Not surprisingly, fall is often the ideal time to visit for many families—especially with a host of festivals and goings on. Here are a few to inspire you for a road trip in the coming weeks.



September 28 – October 8

The City of Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs produces the MOJA Arts Festival annually in partnership with the MOJA Planning Committee, an all-volunteer community arts and cultural group. The MOJA Arts Festival combines African-American and Caribbean influences with music, lectures, stage performances, tours, concerts, art exhibits, and more.




September 29 – October 1

Indulge in Charleston’s vibrant and diverse food culture.Take your taste buds on a journey through the city’s rich culinary heritage as you sample delectable dishes from various local vendors. Savor refreshing drinks all day long as you mingle with other food enthusiasts and witness cooking demonstrations and tastings by some of Charleston’s most acclaimed and talented chefs.




October 7 – 8

The Edisto Blackwater Boogie is a festival all about celebrating the Edisto River. Funds raised from the Boogie go to the creation of an ADA trail along the river bluff.

The Edisto Blackwater Boogie is a weekend-long event taking place from October 27th to 29th, 2023. Camping is encouraged! Immerse yourself in the experience by camping out under the stars. Camper sites are available from Givhans Ferry State Park and offsite camping is also available.

15 bands on two stages at The Royal American on Saturday Oct 28th, 2023! Get your tickets cheap while supplies last.

The 10th Annual Charleston Beer Week highlights the wide variety of craft beer brands enjoyed in the area today, with many unique events you wouldn't normally find on your calendar.

Come on out to Johns Island County Park for foot-stompin’ live music from local bluegrass bands, pumpkin decorating, archery, and more. Feast on Southern delights like finger-lickin’ Carolina barbecue, kettle corn, and all of your favorite festival foods!

The Annual Charleston Scottish Games and Highland Gathering has an incredible lineup of events, including athletics, live music, demonstrations and much more.
